Emily Duncan Sexologist Sex Therapist

Emily Duncan

Sex Therapist, Couples Therapist, Sexologist - BPS, GDip Sexology, Society of Australian Sexologists

Emily (she/her) is a Queer cis-gendered Sexologist who believes we all deserve to have a pleasurable and enjoyable sex life, whether that is with ourselves or with a partner or partners. Emily’s practice is neuroaffirming and welcomes individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities, with a particular focus on LGBTIQA+ communities. Emily was raised on a farm in a small rural town and understands the experience of navigating sexuality within a conservative society that doesn't talk about sex. This experience led to her having to unlearn society's harmful sexual scripts, ideas and values surrounding sex and she now guides people to do the same.

Therapeutic Approach: In session, Emily utilises a person-centred approach that fosters autonomy and confidence within your sexuality. She creates a safe, curious and open environment that encourages trust and exploration. Through talk therapy, psychoeducation and mindfulness, she will equip you with knowledge and tools to navigate your concerns.

Areas of specialisation: A specialisation of Emily's is supporting neurodivergent and people with disability in experiencing fulfilling sex and relationships. Everyone has the right to explore and enjoy intimate connections. Emily provides sex education, therapy, and specialised support tailored to physical or sensory needs. With experience working across a wide range of disabilities, Emily takes a person-centred approach, customising each session to meet your unique needs. As a neurodivergent individual herself, she brings a deep understanding to her practice. Emily also supports clients who want support with sexual function, erectile difficulties, anorgasmia, low desire, mismatched desire, painful sex, performance anxiety, navigating relationships, non-monogamy, kink, porn dependence, harmful sexual behaviours, communication and confidence.

Qualifications and registrations: Emily has a Graduate Diploma in Sexology, a Graduate Certificate in Counselling and a Bachelor's in Psychological Science majoring in Forensic Psychology. Emily is registered with the Society of Australian Sexologists.
